The Purpose And The Meaning Of Life
The Purpose and Meaning of Life
If God created us, then He has a purpose in our life. He gives us the meaning of life. Everything and everybody has a purpose in their lives. When you bake a cake, the cake has a purpose. When you create something at work, it has a purpose. When God created mankind He had a purpose for mankind. God's purpose as given to us by Jesus Christ is for us to have a loving relationship with God and with our fellow man. Jesus told us our purpose in Matthew 22:37-39 when He said, "...Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself".
God Defines The Meaning Of Life, We Fulfill It
By our actions Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace." Every thing we do on this Earth has a "...purpose under the heaven." From God's perspective everything we do is for His purpose. He holds us accountable to that purpose. God will eventually judge all of us for our actions right or wrong. (Ecclesiastes 3:17, "I said in mine heart, God
shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work".)
God Defines The Meaning Of Life - We Are Here For His Pleasure
The definition of the meaning of life is quite simple. It is to please God. The meaning of life is to glorify, honor, and love God ( Revelation 4:11, "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."). This is why God created us. He created us to love Him and worship Him. He created mankind with a soul that has the capability to love God just as God loves us. He desired for His unique creation, mankind, to freely love Him. The reason we get confused about the meaning of our lives is that God gave us a choice to freely love Him or not to love Him. God gives us this freedom to choose because He wants us to freely love Him. He has to give us free will in order for us to love Him. It is precisely our free will that gets us confused on what is the meaning of life. We get caught up in all the different choices in life. Should I go to college? Should I pursue this career field? Should I marry this person? With our
free will we think there are all these choices in life (the meanings of life). The bottomline is to not get confused by all these temporary choices. In all the hustle and bustle of life, you have one eternal purpose and two choices. Your one purpose is to love and worship God. Your two choices are to love God or disobey God.
Our Acts Of Love Fulfill God's Purpose
It is our acts of love that fulfills God's purpose. That is all that He desires from us. If we love God, all things will work together for the good (Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose"). The rest of our lives fall into place when we are totally devoted to God. We know our purpose when we are fully committed to God. We are fulfilling our purpose when we worship God. He will take care of us. We will not lack. He will bless us. He will give us eternal life because He desires to stay in loving relationship with us forever.

We live in a time like no other. We’ve essentially won the struggle for life and dominated the planet and now we wonder what the real purpose of life is. I could say that “the point of life is to live”.

John Matthews,
We all have our own point of life and I have the same belief that you have about life. It's life, meant to live. Thanks for your comment. :)
